Yellowbrickroad review

Yellowbrickroad, Released January 2010. Genre Horror, Thriller. Directors: Jesse Holland, Andy Mitton. Writers: Jesse Holland, Andy Mitton. Stars: Cassidy Freeman, Anessa Ramsey, Lee Wilkof . Running time 1h 38m.

The plot, 1940, the entire population of Friar, New Hampshire walked up a winding mountain trail, leaving everything behind. 2008: the first official expedition into the wilderness attempts to solve the mystery of the lost citizens of Friar.

This film takes entirely to long to establish itself. Seeing the Bloody Disgusting is a sponsor for this film I expected more gore than it actually presented. The expedition to uncover the major disappearance slowly begin to experience disturbing anomalies along their trip and they slowly start to loose their grip on reality. The first gore scene does not take place until almost 45 minutes into the story and even then, the scene fails to creep me out. One by one the travelers start to slaughter each other, They experience loud sounds and dark visions. The visual effects are poor, there is a scene where one of the girls jumps off a cliff and it just looks cheesy.

One of my favorite scenes from the film happens when the group is ambushed by loud sound waves and as they try to escape from it, they run into the woman that was killed first. She ends up crucified to a tree and is posed like a scarecrow. Other than that the rest of the film did not impress me to much.

Conclusion, the actors do a good job at loosing their wits and killing each other. Unfortunately, as a whole they are not believable and the scenes tend to go on longer than they should. In terms of gore. If you like blood and mutilation, then you will like it. If you are more into a great story line and subtle gore, then maybe you will look somewhere else.
